A website quote may look complete at first glance, while leaving out important elements that only surface once the project is underway. Here are the questions you should always ask before signing.
The exact scope of deliverables
Make sure the quote specifies the number of pages included, the features being developed, and what is explicitly excluded. A quote that's vague on scope is often a source of extra fees down the line. Also ask whether content writing, visuals, and any translations are included or billed separately.
Ownership of the code and access
Check that you will remain the owner of the source code, the domain name, and the hosting access once the project is delivered. Some providers keep control over these elements, which can complicate switching providers later.
Maintenance after launch
- Does the quote include a bug-fixing period after delivery?
- Is there a recurring maintenance offer (security updates, backups)?
- Who is responsible in case of a crash or security breach after launch?
